Solar panel installation in Málaga

Málaga is one of the best cities in Spain for investing in solar self-consumption: plenty of sunshine, rising electricity prices and, increasingly, residents’ associations and buildings switching to solar power. Whether you live in a flat, a penthouse, a detached house or run a business, installing solar panels in Málaga is an investment that pays for itself quickly and reduces your bill from the very first month.

At SolQuality we design and install custom self-consumption systems in Malaga capital and its metropolitan area: El Limonar, Pedregalejo, El Palo, Cerrado de Calderón, Teatinos, Churriana, Campanillas and the surroundings of the Andalusia Technology Park (PTA), among other areas.

Why install solar panels in Malaga?

Plenty of sun almost all year round

Malaga enjoys one of the highest rates of solar radiation in Europe. In terms of production, each kilowatt peak (kWp) installed in the area generates around 1,650 kWh per year, so that an average residential installation of 4 to 5 kWp can produce approximately between 6,600 and 8,300 kWh annually. This excellent performance is what shortens the amortization periods compared to other regions of the country.

A city designed for collective self-consumption

Unlike areas of villas and chalets, residential buildings, penthouses and communities of owners predominate in Malaga capital. This opens up one of the most interesting opportunities: collective or shared self-consumption, in which several neighbors of the same building share an installation on the common roof and distribute the energy generated. It is a formula that is increasingly in demand in Malaga, because it reduces the cost per home and takes advantage of roofs that would otherwise remain unused.

For those who live in an attic or single-family home, individual installation remains equally simple and cost-effective.

Opportunity for companies and ships

Málaga concentrates intense business activity, with industrial estates and the surroundings of the Andalusia Technology Park (PTA) in Campanillas. Commercial warehouses and buildings usually have large flat roofs, ideal for higher power installations that convert high electrical consumption into very significant savings.

Some of our solar panel installations in Málaga

Installation in Ronda (Málaga) Installation completely isolated from the grid, 28 solar panels

This project in Ronda, Málaga is completely isolated from the electrical grid. With a system designed to maximize energy autonomy, with 28 solar panels and 7 3.5 kWh batteries, we ensure an independent and sustainable source of energy.

  • Solar Panels: 28 high-efficiency solar panels, designed to maximise solar energy capture.
  • Energy Storage: 7 batteries, each with a capacity of 3.5 kWh, providing enough energy to last the whole day.
  • Voltronic Inverters: Two 7.2 kW inverters connected in parallel, ensuring the efficient conversion of solar energy into electricity.
  • Energy Independence: The system provides complete autonomy without relying on the conventional electricity grid.
  • Reliability: Ideal for remote areas where the electricity grid is unavailable or expensive.
  • Sustainability: An active contribution to the environment, reducing CO₂ emissions and energy costs.
Installation in Cártama (Málaga)
261 bifacial panels

This project in Cártama, Málaga involves the installation of 261 advanced bifacial solar panels, designed to capture sunlight on both sides of the panels, thereby increasing the system’s energy efficiency. The system includes a 100 kW Growatt inverter, renowned for its reliability and efficiency.

  • Bifacial Solar Panels: 261 panels that capture light on both sides, maximising energy production.
  • 100 kW Growatt Inverter: Ensures efficient conversion of solar energy into electricity.
  • Improved Efficiency: The combination of bifacial technology and the inverter ensures high performance and lower energy loss.
  • High Energy Output: Greater energy generation compared to traditional systems.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Rapid return on investment and savings on energy costs.
  • Environmental Commitment: Reduction in CO₂ emissions and a positive contribution to the environment.

Aid, bonuses and taxation in Malaga

A differential advantage of installing in Malaga capital is that the City Council does maintain tax credits for solar energy, which are also compatible with state and regional aid:

  • IBI bonus (Málaga capital). According to the tax ordinance of the Malaga City Council, residential homes that install systems for thermal or electrical use of solar energy can benefit from a 15% bonus on the full IBI fee for 3 years. Among the requirements is a minimum solar collection surface of 4 m² and that the installation is legalized and is not required by regulations. The bonus is not automatic: it must be requested expressly.
  • Subsidies from the Junta de Andalucía. The Andalusian Energy Agency manages self-consumption aid programs (with state and European funds). These calls open and close for periods and have a limited budget, so their availability varies throughout the year.
  • ICIO bonus. The tax on constructions and installations can also be reduced for self-consumption installations. The specific percentage is established in the municipal ordinance.
  • Deduction in personal income tax. State regulations contemplate deductions in the income tax return for installations that improve the energy efficiency of the home, with percentages that depend on the type of improvement and compliance with current requirements.

We inform you of the aid in force at the time of your installation and we take care of processing the applications for you.

Frequently asked questions about solar panels in Malaga

How much does it cost to install solar panels in Malaga?
It depends on the power, the type of cover and whether a battery is included. A typical residential installation moves within an indicative range of several thousand euros, which is recovered in a few years thanks to the savings on the bill, the IBI bonus and the rest of the aid. The most reliable thing is a personalized budget after studying your consumption and your coverage.

I live in an apartment or in a community of neighbors, can I install solar panels?
Yes. In Malaga, collective self-consumption is very common: several neighbors share an installation on the common roof and distribute the energy. Individual installation is also possible if you have your own roof or attic. We advise you on the best option and manage the agreement with the community.

Is there an IBI bonus in Malaga for installing solar panels?
Yes. Malaga capital contemplates in its tax ordinance an IBI bonus for residential homes with solar self-consumption. It is not automatic: you must apply for it and meet the requirements (including a minimum collection area and legalized installation). We process the request for you.

Do I need a license from the Malaga City Council?
In most cases a responsible declaration is sufficient. Additional conditions may apply in the historic center or in listed buildings. We review your case before starting.

How much can I save per year?
The savings depend on your consumption and how much energy you directly use. Thanks to the high radiation in Malaga, many homes and businesses reduce their bills significantly, especially if they concentrate consumption during sunny hours or incorporate batteries.

How long does the installation take?
A standard residential installation is usually completed in one or two days of work, once the preliminary study and processing has been done. Installations in communities or warehouses require a little more planning.
